Position Summary:
Manage moderately complex product management projects, coordinating with cross-functional resources to achieve project objectives. Provides input into product strategy and business plan for product line.
Principal Responsibilities:
Product Strategy
• Analyzes or conducts environmental assessments including: macro-economic trends, regulatory landscape, legal / legislative changes, customer behavior / preference shifts, etc.
• Contributes to the competitive assessment process including identifying direct and indirect competitors / product alternatives that risk substituting for the product
• Analyzes or conducts product usage patterns to identify segments based on common customer buying behavior
• Participates in periodic cross-functional project team meetings to ensure project strategy and operational issues are reviewed
Business Planning
• Provides input to the annual plan
• Writes portions of the annual plan as appropriate
• Ensures actual projects and plan are consistent
• Evaluates data and provides input into:
• Volume and revenue forecasts
• Estimates of capital, expense budget and headcount
• Technical support requirements
• Participates in discussions with cross functional team members to identify major initiatives for the coming year
• Coordinates with Finance to conduct analysis to support development of ROI-based business case for significant investments
• Evaluates competitive data on on-going basis to test initial assumptions for business planning purposes
Marketing and Sales
• Contributes to annual promotional plan, activity development and implementation
• Develops project-specific communications including important notices, newsletter articles, fact sheets, etc.
• Attends meetings with customers and prospects and documents their views of the marketplace, evolving needs, product problems / opportunities
• Prepares briefing papers for meetings with customers or prospects
• Supports client selling and retention efforts with Relationship Management / Sales
• Provides input into sales and distribution tactics working with cross functional teams
Quality and Customer Experience
• Develops product contingency plans and participates in BCP exercises as needed
• Drafts training materials, in collaboration with CTIP, including providing initial drafts
• Supports product training effort for all touch-points to the customer, inclusive of documentation, publications, E Training tools
• Supports communication with customers regarding significant product outages
• Conducts analysis of the customer satisfaction survey to measure, monitor and report on customer satisfaction
• Identifies quality issues that surface outside the quality tracking process
Financial Management
• Contributes to the development of annual revenue forecast, direct costs and to updating financial performance metrics
• Reviews data and provides input into alternative pricing scenarios / structures / volume-based arrangements in light of internal cost structures and SEC approval
• Analyzes pricing/cost structures relative to competitor’s pricing / cost structures
Project Management
Under direction, manages moderately complex product management projects for the building of new products or enhancement / extension of current products:
• Develops project plan, business requirements and deadlines
• Identifies and obtains appropriate resources across functional areas
• Manages achievement of project deliverables and includes coordinating efforts of a variety of functional areas to ensure projects are completed on time and budget
• Provides business updates to Infrastructure and ADM to ensure technology solutions support business requirements
• Provides updates to RM on project status
• Ensures ADM is in concurrence with product release plans
• Manages the product development methodology process vis a vis specific projects, i.e., ensures stage-gate process is followed
• Identifies potential risks to achieving project objectives
• Redirects project plan to reflect changes in product strategy necessitated from changing competitive landscape

Audit / Legal / Regulatory Monitoring and Response
• Provide input on (less complex issues) to Legal to prepare required documentation (SEC rule filing, contracts or agreements)
• Provides input into response to audit reviews of product(s)
• Responsible for supporting the department in adherence to AML/BSA policies and procedures as set-forth by various regulatory bodies.
Staff Management / Development
• Proactively thinks about own development needs
Experience:
• Minimum of five years financial service experience in product management or related areas including relationship management, sales, marketing, IT development
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Good working knowledge of:
• Financial services industry
• Own product area
• Product management (includes project management)
• Software implementation lifecycle (SILC) process
Developing knowledge of:
• Related products
• Capital markets
• IT development
• Systems architecture
Education, Training &/or Certification:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; advanced degree in business discipline preferred
